Installed the Epic Games Store via Proton and then installed Absolute Drift through that. Windows version runs well on Steam Deck
Game would hard freeze and then crash on occassion, usually when loading a new area
Launching the game in the Epic Games Store via proton OR launching the .exe directly through Steam both work. Occassional crash occurred via both methods.
The game initially worked on Thursday of playtest, but kicked me via EAC timeouts on Friday and Saturday
Multiplayer worked on a single day (Thursday) but kicked me via EAC timeout every day after that during the playtest
The beta made use of my existing beta save file from a previous closed beta. This is the only thing I can think of that might have allowed me to play multiplayer online on the Steam Deck on Thursday. Anecdotally, my friend with a steam deck was getting kicked from games while I was not, until I tried playing again on Friday and Saturday, where I was unable to spend any time in a match longer than 30 seconds. Running EAC manually and trying Proton GE didn't correct the issue.
Installed the Epic Games Store via Proton and then installed Darkest Dungeon through that. Windows version runs perfectly on Steam Deck
Launching the game in the Epic Games Store via proton OR launching the .exe directly through Steam both work flawlessly. No bugs.
The launcher requires use of the touchscreen or trackpads on Steam Deck, but the controls with buttons and joy stick work out of the box!
I only tested the single player
Runs perfectly on lower settings, great for local play instead of taking a laptop to the local tournament.
To echo a prior review, NASB has stability issues on specific stages. These are usually not apparent on the PC version since the hardware can outperform, but the Switch still has these issues even after optimization efforts.
Online play requires a solid 60 FPS to enjoy without heavy rollbacks. Try lowering graphical settings to LOW, especially if:
*Online seems to play out in slow motion
*One or two stages feel consistently laggy, regardless of connection (rooftop rumble is a repeat offender).
*You always seem to have zero "green bars". These green bars represent how many frames ahead your machine is able to render the scene
Used my Deck for local tournaments a few times so far. Stability is good and I don't even need to remap the controller order, so plugging a monitor into console mode is easy and fast.
Currently, I don't notice any different between Proton 7.0.2 and GE 15. Any major reported issues seem to be corrected.
After tinkering, it works fine on steam deck, but others in my local community cannot get it running. Try at your own risk.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winusb.dll=d" %command%
Despite the game's implementation of winusb, it does not function with the first party nintendo gamecube adapter.
Tons of stuttering BEFORE applying a launch option fix. None afterwards.

Works great with Proton GE on Steam Deck! Excellent game to play on the go or for short sessions.
Proton 7.0.0 works for this game, but the cutaway shots of buildings that occur mid-conversation displayed a test pattern image instead. I did not test with updated versions of Proton 7. Proton GE 7-10 and beyond versions worked just fine, though!
Shenmue runs great on Steam Deck, even allowing 4k texture mods and audio restoration mods via the forklift mod loader. Excellent experience
The default controller mapping for the official controller layout causes the back paddles of the Steam Deck to wrap two different buttons. This results in any control prompt breaking or just display a generic button. Unmapping the paddles or just setting the steam deck to use a generic controller layout for the game corrects it.
Proton GE 14 had some issues with the game locking up, but they disappeared entirely in GE 15 and above.
